Location map

The Location map page (DashboardLocation map) shows the last known location of devices in Google Maps. Each device with available location data is shown as a marker.

Prerequisites

Device location data is shown only when location reporting is enabled in the device policy. To enable it, open the policy and turn on Status reportingGeolocation. For more details, see Status reporting.

Loading and no-data state

  • While location data is loading, the map is shown with a loading indicator overlay.
  • If no devices have location data available, the page shows a message stating No location data available and the hint above about enabling location reporting in the policy.

Map markers and clusters

Markers are clustered automatically when many devices are close to each other. Click a marker to open its details.

Marker details

When you click a device marker, an information window opens with:

  • The device Model and internal Id (as a link).
  • The timestamp of the location record.
  • The reported accuracy (in meters).

Clicking the device link opens the device editor for that device.

Accuracy circle

When the information window is open, an accuracy circle is displayed around the marker. The circle radius corresponds to the reported accuracy (in meters). Closing the information window hides the circle.
